Before you send us anything

Contacting us through this site, by phone, by text or by email does not make us your lawyer. Information you send before we agree to represent you may not be confidential. Please don't send details about your case until we've talked.

What we collect

  • What you give us. When you fill out the consultation form, we collect what you type: your name, email address, phone number, a short description of what is happening, and details about the federal case (such as the charge, court, year, prison, or BOP register number). The form also records how long it took to fill out, to help block spam. If you call or text us, we get your phone number and what you tell us.
  • What your browser sends. Like any website, our hosting provider receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
  • Cookies. We don't use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set cookies needed for security and to keep the site working.
  • Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate (pages viewed, the referring site, country and device type). It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you.
  • How you found us. When you first open one of our pages, your browser keeps a short note for that browser session only (it isn't a cookie): the site and page you landed on, the kind of site that sent you (for example, a search engine or AI assistant), and any campaign tags in the link. If you book a consultation, that note is sent with your request and stored with your intake record in Zoho Bigin. It doesn't include your name or contact details.

How we use it

  • To answer your request and decide whether we can help.
  • To schedule and remind you about consultations.
  • If you hire us, to communicate with you about your case.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run the firm, and only so they can do that work for us:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website and processes form submissions.
  • Zoho (Bigin) is where we keep our contact and intake records.
  • GoTo handles our phone calls and text messages.
  • Pixabay hosts a few images shown in older articles on this site. When your browser loads one of those images, Pixabay receives basic technical information such as your IP address.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.

Text messages

Criminal Center LLC sends our text messages from 202-990-2500. If you text us at 202-990-2500, or check the optional box agreeing to texts on one of our website forms, we'll text you at that number about your inquiry. Agreeing to texts isn't required to get help. If you book a consultation, we'll also send appointment reminders. If you become a client, we may also send case updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. See our Text Messaging Terms.

We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or your text-message opt-in with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the phone-service provider (GoTo) that delivers our messages.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry records as long as we need them to respond, to check for conflicts of interest, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Client files are kept as the rules governing lawyers require.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, email or text system is completely secure. Please don't send sensitive details through this site.

Children

This site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Email help@criminalcenter.com or call 202-990-2500. To stop texts, reply STOP.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
